Ruby Rai is Head of Employment in our newly established Employment Law department at Thomas Flavell & Sons, based in the Leamington Spa office. Ruby brings with her over 17 years of experience advising both employers and employees across a wide range of workplace issues, having qualified in July 2008.
An accomplished solicitor, Ruby holds an LLB (Hons) with Distinction and an LPC with Commendation. She has been recognised as a Key Lawyer in the Legal 500 for both 2022 and 2026 - a testament to her expertise and the trust she inspires in her clients.
Before joining TFS, Ruby was a Senior Associate at Nelsons, having previously worked with Pattersons Commercial Law and Brethertons. Her experience spans across corporate support and advisory work on issues such as redundancies, TUPE and managing disciplinary and grievance processes. Ruby also advises on contentious matters and managing proceedings within the Employment Tribunal for unfair dismissal, discrimination and breach of contract claims.
Notably, Ruby has also created a specialism for advising senior executives on exit strategies. Ruby helps senior employees to secure favourable exit packages, advises on restrictive covenants and drafts complex settlement agreements.
Ruby is motivated by helping her clients find practical, forward-looking solutions. She believes that employment law shouldn’t just resolve problems but also pave the way for better workplace relationships and stronger business practices.
A member of the Law Society, Employment Lawyers Association (where she also mentors), and Warwickshire Law Society (serving as Employment Lead on the committee), Ruby also supports aspiring lawyers through Grow Mentoring.
Outside of work, Ruby enjoys keeping active, spending time with family and friends, and focusing on living a healthy, happy life.
