Emma Sommerville joined the team in March 2026 as a Senior Associate in the Private Client team. Emma specialises in a broad range of private client work, including Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Probate, tax planning and trusts. She understands that conversations around estate planning can sometimes feel daunting, and she prides herself on guiding clients through the process with clarity, compassion and a steady hand.
Emma is a TEP (Trust and Estate Practitioner), having qualified in 2008, and is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, a globally recognised body for professionals specialising in inheritance and succession planning.
Before joining Thomas Flavell & Sons, Emma worked at several well-known regional firms, including Mander Hadley, Lodders Solicitors, and Shakespeare Martineau, building extensive experience across all aspects of private client law.
What motivates Emma most is helping families navigate estate planning and probate with professionalism and empathy. She enjoys building lasting relationships with her clients and supporting them through important life decisions.
Outside of work, Emma enjoys spending time with her family, attending her book club, practising pilates, walking her dog and, like many parents, embracing the role of “mum taxi.”
